"in this world nothing is certain but death and taxes."

i filed my taxes yesterday. all by myself. for the first time in my life.

they were due, along w/ the rest of the country's, back in april. unfortunately, maximus didn't get me my W2 until almost may. so i did what i do w/ all my problems: i ignore them and hope they go away.
luckily, i had somehow filed for an extension. i don't remember doing it at all, but somehow i did. so tuesday i get an email that says my taxes aren't due until august 15th. what luck! i wasn't going to be late on my taxes after all. of course, my luck being what it is, i lost my W2. so it appeared i wasn't going to file taxes after all.
then one day, i'm sitting at my computer and look down, into the space between my desk and the little file cabinet thing that my tower sits on. i see a piece of paper that turns out to be my missing W2! so yay, i get to file taxes and not get beheaded, or whatever happens to people who don't file taxes.
anyway, i file them (all by myself, which i'm very proud of), and i get a $99 refund. that's not bad for 2 1/2 months of waitressing in 2003.
